Brainspotting
Brainspotting is a powerful, body-based, therapeutic approach that helps process and release emotional pain which can feel “stuck”.
Rather than relying on talking alone, it works with the deeper parts of the brain and body where experiences are held. It is based on the concept that where you look can influence how you feel, helping us access these deeper areas.
Brainspotting can be especially helpful if you understand things logically but still feel something hasn’t fully shifted.
How it works
We use specific eye positions, known as brainspots, to access areas of the brain connected to what you’re experiencing. From here, the brain begins to process naturally, at its own pace.
There is no need to revisit or relive difficult experiences in detail. Sessions are calm, focused and gently guided, with you remaining in control throughout.
What it can help with?
• Anxiety and overwhelm
• Trauma and past experiences
• Low self-esteem
• Emotional blocks
• Performance anxiety
What people often notice
Many people experience:
• a reduction in intensity or stress
• a sense of emotional shift
• increased clarity
• relief or a feeling of things settling
Working with children and young people
Brainspotting can be adapted to support children and young people in a gentle and age-appropriate way. It doesn’t rely on explaining everything in words, which is especially helpful for younger clients.
I work at a pace that feels safe, using a calm and supportive approach to help children and young people process emotions, reduce overwhelm, and feel more settled.
Training and approach
Brainspotting was developed by Dr. David Grand, a leading figure in psychological health, trauma and performance work. I have trained directly with Dr. Grand and am a certified Brainspotting practitioner. My clinical work is further informed by ongoing advanced masterclasses.
